I was In a restaurant and the waiter called me cutie.... And my husband was sitting there. It made me very uncomfortable. Just say Miss or mame. Even if it's someone I know, coworker or something I would be very uncomfortable with them calling me that type of name.

Yes, rude! To me, nicknames are personal. So only people close to me would have a nickname to call me. Random guys I don't know....nope!

I call people sir and ma'am. I don't think it's unreasonable to not want strangers to call you by names only a VERY close friend or a lover would use. At the very least it's just plain creepy like you don't know me please get the fuck

In London every bloke calls people darlin and sweetheart and love, and j love it. It's a very southern thing to do, my dad does too and I find it nice and it just shows they are being kind. But maybe elsewhere it's different, I call men I don't know mate, and they also call younger guys son sometimes.
