how on EARTH do you make your baby sleep without you?

Question

My baby won't sleep on her own. She needs to be rocked or bounced in order to fall asleep. Then the second I put her down she's wide awake or screaming. Unless it's the rock n play or she's swaddled, or she's like dead asleep. But even then it doesn't last long. 
How can I get her to fall asleep or stay asleep without needing to be rocked or held the entire time? It's getting to the point where I won't get anything done all day. She's 10 weeks so I don't really want to let her cry it out yet and plus it doesn't do much but just make me go deaf from the screaming.

Best way is to get your baby used to not being held while they sleep make sure they have a clean diaper feed them and as they are falling asleep slowly place them in a crib or bassinet or whatever they sleep in they just want to know you are there so stay in the room for a little bit or sleep next to where they sleep so they feel safe eventually he/she will fall asleep on their own and sleep without you in the room . It takes a lot of patience and time but you will get there , Pinterest is very helpful.

At first our baby wouldn't sleep in his crib at all. We started putting a heating pad in for a few minutes before we put him down. Then it would be comfy and warm and he would stay asleep. I think otherwise the sheet felt cold and would startle him.

Glad i'm not alone. Also 10 weeks. Feeding every 1.5 hrs and sleeping only either while feeding or while being carried around and rocked.

Best thing todo is get ur baby to sleepin there bed but to go to sleepby there self , don't ever but a baby in there bed asleep because once they wake up they will freak out and wonder where they are they need to no where they are before they fall asleep, I'm telling u this cosmy baby didn't sleep and since he was 6 wks old he's slept 12 hours in his own bed and doesn't wake up till morning he's now 13 wks old and I don't have a problem with him. He used to scream when I laid him down at nite at 6wks and I thought to my self uv had a bath uv had bottle uv been changed there is absolutely nothing wrong with which there wasn't so I'd lay him down and he wud scream,, yeah I hold my hands up I let my baby cry and it was the best thing I ever did, when he got really up set id pick up calm him then lay him straight backdown with out talking to him I'd carry it on till he fell asleep or needed another feed sometimes standing there 3 hours after 5 days I was laying him in bed and he wud just lay there and in 5 minutes. fall asleep. My routine is I run his bath for 7 o'clock I bath him and get him in his pjs the I give him a bottle in his nursery with just a dim lamp on give him cuddles for a couple mins then I ALWAYS lay him in bed while he's awake lay him in bed and walk out the room he's in bed by 7.30 and I never hear from him till at least 7.30 the next morning

My girl is either rocked or fed to sleep. I then place her propped up on a nursing pillow next to me. This also helps with reflux as she used to be sick if I put her straight flat on her back. Then if she stays asleep after about 10 mins I'll carry her into her moses basket. I hold her under her bottom and have my other hand under her shoulders and head rather than cradling her or putting her over my shoulder so she stays flat. When I put her down I leave my hand under her for a second and then just rest my hands on her arms as sometimes she squirms and if she hits her face she'll wake up. I would say this is about 75% successful. I have never been able to put her down when she's awake and starting to look tired (like how they recommend). She just cries or starts getting hyper and kicking around and like you I think she is too young to be left to cry.

When I talked to my pediatrician about it, he recommended putting the baby to bed drowsy but awake. We started this around week 2, and now at almost 8 weeks he goes down no problem.

My baby is 11 weeks old and I've started to let her on her napper once she is almost closing her eyes. If she starts crying I take her back and bounce her and then again leave her on the napper. At some point she'll be tired enough to start closing her eyes and fall asleep without being in your arms. I also stay near the napper so she can see me and feel secure. This is working for me so far...a friend of mine recomended me to do this as soon as possible before they are 6 months old. With this method you don t need to let the baby cry.

My baby won't seep long by himself during day time naps either & i consider him a good sleeper. Have you got a bouncer? If I really need to get something done I let him sleep in the bouncer & if he starts waking up i give him his dummy & bounce it a little harder till he falls asleep again.

Do you think it's the motion she likes or the warmth and companionship of being held? If it's the movement check out the mamaroo. It mimmicks the motions of being in utero or held by mom. My daughter sometimes prefers her mamaroo over being in my own arms. 😂 she detests a normal swing but sleeps in the mamaroo for hours

I talked to my pediatrician about this exact situation. She recommended the method from the book "Happiest Baby on the Block" which is eat-play-sleep. So, when the baby wakes up you feed, then play, and as she's getting tired you put her down to sleep. Now this never worked for me until I got my little girl a gliding swing that plays white noise and vibrates. Also she has to be swaddled, and at the recommendation of my pediatrician I put the swing as high as it will go. It has worked miracles the last two days. Today she took a two hour nap!! That has never happened. I didn't know what to do with myself.
