Finally getting around to posting my sweet baby girl's birth story. I was sent to the hospital at 40+3 weeks to be induced, we arrived around 4:30 and my doctor inserted a foley balloon. I had walked around 2 centimeters dilated for a few weeks and wasn't progressing at all. I'm not going to lie, the pain from the balloon manually dilating me hurt more than actually pushing my daughter out lol. I walked as much as possible and bounced on a yoga ball and after 2 or so hours the balloon fell out on its own. My nurse came in and started pitocin around 3 am and gradually increased the dose over the course of the morning, around 8 am my doctor came in and manually broke my water. After that point, the contractions were hitting me strong and hard. I thought that I wanted a med free birth but opted to have the epidural and let me tell you, it was seriously heaven lol. I was already dilated to an 8 when they gave me the epidural and not long after that I was totally dilated. My nurse told me the doctor was on her way and it was time to start pushing. I was so numb from my epidural I honestly couldn't feel to push at first but it wore off quickly. With the help of my amazing husband, doctor and nurses, I pushed for around an hour and then my daughter came out. Gianna Rose was born at 5:05 pm on January 17th, weighing 7 lbs 2 oz and 21 inches long. I only had one tiny tear which only needed one stitch. Honestly I feel so blessed, I was most scared of having a horrible tear! I'm 4 days postpartum now and my bleeding has almost stopped and I'm really not even sore at this point, which is amazing. My husband and I are just so in love and obsessed with this baby girl. I prayed and prayed for this baby girl and I just feel so blessed to be her mommy.
