copper IUD pros cons!?

Paragard is the all copper IUD, it is hormone free which I liked bc when we were ready to start trying I didn't want to birth control to affect us. I also have heard negative about Mirena, I have a friend that it pierced her uterus & she ended up needing a hysterectomy. I'm sure here are women who have had negative experiences with paragard but I never did.

I've had paragard twice after each pregnancy for about 3 years each time... no issues except for a little spotting a day or 2 before my period starts.

I had the Mirena (hormonal) for the full 5 years, and the copper Paraguard for 4 years. I didn't have an issue with either of them moving around or causing issues. My period stopped totally with the Mirena, which was nice to not have to deal with. I've heard horror stories about your period getting heavier and more painful on Paraguard. Mine was possibly heavier (my period was irregular before I got pregnant, then got pregnant, then went without a period for 5 years when I had the Mirena put in shortly after I gave birth,  so I can't really remember what my period was like before Paraguard), but it wasn't any more painful. It was nice to not have the extra hormones. Mirena lasts 5 years, Paraguard lasts 10, and they are roughly the same price. So I guess it depends how long you want this to last for. I was halfway sad having my Paraguard pulled 5 years early to try for a baby. I paid for all 10 years! Lol

Im looking into the same thing. I had the mirena and hated it! I had break through bleeding way to often. Long periods. When my husband and I had sex it would hurt if he went to deep in. He could also feel it. Some woman don't have any issues with it and love it. I am one of those who just don't care for it. Hope this helps some💖
