herpes😭

I have just been diagnosed with herpes last week and just wondered if anyone had any advice on how to manage it.

I've been taking Acyclovir since thursday yet its not clearing up at all, and i am unable to use the toilet without crying in pain, dramatic i know but it bloody hurts!

Does anyone have any tips how to manage this? Should the medication be working by now? I have two days left of it.

I also wanted to know if herpes can lie dormant in your body for a long time before an outbreak. I have been in a faithful relationship for 14 months but we both have had unprotected sex before that, could i have contracted it that long ago and only just be showing signs?
