Sit in the backseat?

Does anyone else sit in the backseat with your LO still if you're still on maternity leave? I go back to work Monday and will have to drive him to the back sitter and pick him up and won't be able to sit in the back with him anymore and idk why but it just makes me nervous. Anyone else? If not any advice?

We had purchased the mirrors as well, but when my husband had our car seat installation inspected the police department told us to get rid of them. According to the police department they are actually pretty dangerous because they divert your attention from driving because you keep checking on the baby. They said if you baby is fussy enough to look back at the mirror then you should just pull over and handle it that way.

Initially I was hesitant to get rid of the mirrors (I too had anxiety about not being able to see my baby) but in the end I could see what they were saying is right. I don't want to risk an accident, especially with my LO in the car. I've driven quite a lot since her birth (8 weeks old) and haven't had any issues and I've gotten more and more comfortable each time.

I just wanted to share this since it had never occurred to me that the mirrors could be risky and since they are so popular I had assumed they were safe.

Definitely get a mirror! My 12 week old son and I have gone plenty of places alone and that mirror is a lifesaver, especially when you have to put the binky back in! When we are with my husband tho, I still sit in the back with him.

Most of the time I still sit in the back with her if hubby is driving...I have a 16, 14, 7 and 5 year old that are in the car with me most times when hubby is not and all are super attentive to baby if she starts crying, so I feel pretty comfy when I'm not in the back seat when the kids are in the car

Not going to lie... I haven't sat in the back with her yet...I sat in the front on the way home from the hospital...lol. I've done so many drives alone with her that I didn't even think about it...definitely get a mirror if you're worried though!!!

After a couple weeks, I went somewhere just me and my son. Got one of those mirrors so I can see him from the drivers seat. Even when my husband drives I ride in the front seat.

I sit in the back seat any time I'm in the car with my daughter unless it's just me and her driving to the doctor or something other than that my husband drives and I'm always in the back like what if she chokes I can't tell or help immediately if I'm up front or something else plus I like to help keep her from crying play games like peek a boo things like that shake her favorite elmo toy. And if she's hungry she's ebf I can tell the signs and I can wait if we are close if not I tell hubby to pull over so I can get her out and fed then put her in and get going if we are close I'll pull her out after we arrive and either put her in my wrap n feed her or just hold her and do it walking in to where we are going..I think better safe then sorry they need us and can't tell us anything right now..my daughter is 11 weeks today!

Yes, they have this thing you can buy at Walmart super cheap. It's a little mirror and you suction cup it to your back window in your vehicle and then line it up with your rearview mirror so you can see your baby from your rearview mirror while driving. I have one and it has given me peace of mind while driving with my little guy.

It wasn't rational, but I was terrified the first time I drove by myself with my baby. First he was silent for about ten minutes and that was making me worry, and then he started screaming and I literally got off of the highway and pulled into a parking lot to make sure the straps weren't strangling him or something. It sucks, because he doesn't mind the car when someone's back there with him but when I drive alone he always cries at least part of the way.

The mirror helps me immensely! If anything, you can always pull over if you need to quickly soothe your baby. We've introduced the pacifier only at bedtime and in the car seat.
