What do I need to pack in my hospital bag?

Take Depends! So much better than the mesh underwear! 
If your room will have a mini fridge, take food for after baby arrives--you will be starving.

I'd say:
Mobile phone at full battery and battery reloader.
Stretch trousers, preferably in red or black or another color that doesn't show blood spots too quickly (oh girl if you accidents with menstruation, then this might be a bit worse).
A blouse or T-shirt or the like that is easy to breastfeed, i.e. not too long that you have to pull it up a lot, not too tight that you have difficulties pulling it up and down, or with a zipper (no buttons takes lot of time to open while the baby cries).
Extra underwear…the slip shouldn't be too big, better tight, because blood quickly drips on the sides the first week. The bra should give a lot of support for your breasts, they will thank you for it the day they get filled with milk (around day 4, prepare to look like a milking cow).
And last but not least, take with you a paracetamol or the like, some women are in a lot of pains from the tightening of the uterus again (and some don't feel anything).
