how to treat a canker sore

I have a canker sore in an unfortunate place (left side of my throat, right before my tonsil), and I heard gargling with slatwater makes it worse Bc its a canker sore and not a regular sore throat. Any recommendations for food, liquid, things to gargle or overall advice?
