Am I wrong for feeling sad?

On the train last night there was a group of women. One says to another while laughing "I thought I wasn't going to make it to the protest today because I had to get my abortion over with before my rights are revoked..." I am deeply hurt by that comment because there are millions of women who cry and pray for a positive pregnancy test and then there are women like her who jokes about abortions. I know everyone says women rights and etc, but I will not be afraid to stand up for what I believe in. I don't believe getting an abortion should be a joking matter.

Joking about abortions shouldn't be a thing. People don't get abortions "because they just felt like it" like everyone thinks. I know a girl that got one because she was raped and was going to kill herself because she was pregnant with the rapists baby...

That's not a joking matter at all. I would be sad/pissed to. I've been trying for 2years and I would be beyond happy if I got pregnant... Again. ( no sticky babies yet).

I would have been upset too.  Whether or not one believes in abortion the truth is that it is a heavy decision.  To be so callous about it to me is wrong.  This isn't a moral issue.  It doesn't matter to me if you are pro choice or pro life... it's just not funny .. I've had friends use abortion as birth control and it's been hard to not say anything.  At that point,  5 or 6 abortions in possibly one should consider birth control  , especislly bc in our state birth control and condoms are easily accessible and free!!!. You're going to run into a lot of people who open their mouth without a thought to anyone else around them.  I know the struggle of ttc and I know that comment must have hurt.  Chalk it up to classless women ... be better then them and hope you never are tact less and crass like them . Good luck ♡♡ lots of baby dust ♡

I probably would've been shocked, but not surprised. I hear worse on a daily basis, and my family and friends have a dark sense of humor so it wouldn't really bother me. Maybe she wasn't being serious? I dunno. Some people also use jokes as a coping mechanism or to vent frustration. Sure, it can be pretty dark but some people have to joke to help them cope with difficult times.
