Brown spotting instead of period.

I started lightly spotting (brown) yesterday, at first I thought is was my period ( due today) but the spotting has stopped and nothing. (My periods are regular) Took a test this morning but negative. We have been ttc since a late miscarriage in May. Anybody experience this?
