Natural birth??

Question

Is anyone else planning to give natural birth? If so, is your OB going along with that plan? Has anyone experienced natural birth before? Can you give me any ideas of what I should expect? By the way I am talking about NATURAL birth meaning no drugs AT ALL only natural relief.

I'm currently pregnant with my second. I had my daughter natural no drugs at all. I also have a very high tolerance for pain. It was amazing and actually not as bad as I was anticipating. Just remember God designed our bodies to do this! When you feel pain breath through it nice long deep breaths. If they will allow you while you're laboring take a nice warm shower. Sitting on the birthing ball also helped me a great deal. Walking didn't work out too well so I did one lap and went back to room 12 hours later my princess was born. Hoping to do all natural again this time around. Good luck just remember you and baby can do it!

I'm planning a natural birth as well. My OB is on board. I have a doula and I am doing hypnobirthing. I think the more relaxed and calm I am the smoother the experience will go. Animals have natural births all the time and they don't seem to be in excruciating pain so I think it's possible for us as mammals to also experience a positive natural birth experience. Yes there will probably be a lot of discomfort but I think if you can stay calm and relaxed throughout the labor you can try to save up some energy so that you don't end up exhausted and completely drained at the end and can still enjoy your first few moments with your baby. Besides I feel like meds will make me groggy and feel more out of it which is not something I want. I had to go through IVF to conceive my baby and so I feel like I've had enough drugs already and just want to believe that my body can birth naturally as it was made to without the help of science or medicine. I'm tired of feeling inadequate about my body's abilities.

Relaxation is key! I had a natural in hospital (no IV as well) and I was extremely quiet, just focusing on breathing and closing my eyes. 
I'm doing it again this June but I'll be in the comfort of my own home and in a warm birth pool with lavender oil in the air and candles. Sounds so heavenly. 
Natural birth is possible, you just need to educate yourself and remember why you are doing it this way.

There is no way of knowing how your labor will go or how you will respond but if you feel strongly about it and don't give up it can be done. My OB was very supportive as well as the nurses. I had mild hypertension the last few weeks and my OB was still ok with my going over my due date. I did get induced one week post due because my blood pressure shot up. It was the best thing for me to do. Even with pitocin I still had a completely pain med free delivery. It was so amazing I still can't believe it even happened!!! It's completely mind over matter.  I think anyone could do it if they really wanted to. It was hard work but it can be done!!! To be able to feel it all was so worth it and my baby was so awake and alert after the birth. Go for it!!!

I'm seriously considering an epidural for this one. It was very, very painful and I wanted to throw up the whole time. I also feel like I missed out at the end because I was so exhausted, I barely even looked at my baby, let alone hold him before I just passed out. Next thing, I was being woken up hours later, apparently stitched up, and a nurse was like "here's your baby, breastfeed him" it was kinda disorienting. I was like "Where am I? What happened?"

And trust me, I'm great at managing pain. Think.. stuck in a vehicle with a burst spine punching two nerves for 15 hours kinda pain. That was actually worse than childbirth. But they both still really hurt.

I'm proud I did it and there's a huge relieving feeling when it's done, but during the process, it's excruciating.

I'm looking forward to a natural labor. I'm trying a VBAC this time. The success rates for a successful VBAC go down drastically if I need an induction or an epidural. So I'm planning or just trying to relax and let my body do its thing.

I've had a natural birth and not by choice lol I was 28wks almost 29 when i went into premature labor with my youngest and let me tell u it is painful but so worth it! I hated that with the epidural I couldn't get up for hrs to pee or walk around! Right after Gabbie I could, she of course had to go to the nicu, but I was able to leave the next day to go be with her! I would actually do it all over again but since her I've lost 2 babies one stillborn which they did a emergency csection for so now with this baby it's a csection bc he is worried about doing a vbac and having my uterus rupture.
