Do you think it's wrong to dock a dog's ears or tail?

Question

Docking is when a (usually) dogs ears and/or tail are surgically shortened or cut off. I have personally never heard of a medical reason for it, it has always been done solely for aesthetics. 
Common dogs with docked ears or tails are Pits, Dobermans, and Great Danes.

Personally, I think it's a useless procedure. To me, it makes the dogs look mean.

People say that the ears being docked help with ear infections. 🙄 but I'm completely against it all. If their ears and tails were suppose to be like that they would have been born that way. I don't like it AT ALL!

I'm against it although I worked at a vet clinic and we docked a dogs tail bc he was hitting it on things and chewing on it and constantly was in our clinic with infection after infection. So I was ok with that.

The only time it's okay is if it's a real danger. Like if you truly use your dog for sport, compared to one of the same breed living in an apartment in New York. There is also cases of "happy tail", where the tail is being beat on walls that it's dying off their body. But purely cosmetic? No. Leave it alone!!!!

I don't know if it's right or wrong, I think it's stupid, I have a cocker spaniel, his tail was cut before I got him, so he has a little stub, I wish he had a tail, I don't see why anyone does that. But then at the same time I don't understand plastic surgery, unless it a true deformity/medical need. Everyone is beautiful in their own way, dogs included.

My English Bulldogs tail is docked and honestly I only did for the looks of it,not medically.

Never okay unless medically needed. It pisses me off when people do it to make them "look better". If we all stopped doing it then people couldn't possibly have that preference 🤷🏻‍♀️

I personally would never do it, I don't like it and I'm sure it's painful.  I think pups are cutter with their ears anyways.
