stopping a birth control.

I've heard many things bad about stopping a birth control & trying to conceive after stopping it. I was on Nuba ring & are currently on the patch... however I'm considering quiting birth control & trying to conceive now, almost 2 years after having an ectopic & losing my left tube. Do I just cut it cold turkey? Wean off of it? Everytime I try and let it go I just bleed like my period. Someone help? Has anyone got off the patch and just been normal? Help me please???
