I'm on my second pack of pills, almost on the third week, and I started my first pack on the first day of my period (which they say it's effective right away). I just had sex without any protection and I'm wondering if I could get pregnant?

There is always a chance you could get pregnant. The more careful you are the chances decrease. But your chances are never actually gone while having sex. 
I was on the pill, my husband always wears a condom and always pulls out...we have two kiddos.

You didn't have sex without protection, you were on the pill. As long as you're taking your pill at the same time every day you shouldn't get pregnant.
