Bitchy?

Question

I was on skype with my boyfriend and I went to the kitchen and started making coffee like usual. I saw the creamer out and went to my dad to say, "Hey, the creamer was left out. You need to make sure you guys put it back when you're done or it'll go bad." 
To which my boyfriend responded in my headphones, "that was pretty bitchy, wow." He continued to explain by saying, "maybe that's why they're so quick to be mean to you."

I know I'm not the best at talking with my parents, but I didn't think something so calm and normal could be labeled "bitchy." 
What do I even say? Was I saying something wrong? I actually feel horrible, not just about my parents, but just knowing my boyfriend has this impression of how I talk to my parents.

I feel like the way things are worded makes the biggest difference. Some people (myself included) are very sensitive to the way things are worded. Meaning, we notice and feel the difference in a small change of words. Your boyfriend might also be one of those people. You seem to not be -which isn't anything bad. I think that your boyfriend could have phrased his reaction a little better though. I personally would try to say it like this: Hey. I noticed the creamer was left out. Let's please be putting it away when we are done so it won't go bad." I don't think there is anything "wrong" with the way you said it. It's just different ways people communicate. Sorry this is so long. I hope it makes sense.

you don't tell your parents that they "need" to do anything, or maybe that's just how I was raised. you could have said "hey, can you guys please make sure you're putting things away after so they won't go bad?"

Okay. He should never say you're being "bitchy." That is wrong. You weren't being rude at all. And if you were it's not his place to ever call you bitchy. Ever. You talk to your parents how you want. And don't let let him say this.

Well I mean I went there but I don't think that sounded bitchy u were just telling ur parents to put the creamer away if u had like a little aditude maybe but I don't think u were.

I don't think what you said was wrong, you didn't say it nastily or swear at all?

I've been shocked before the way I've heard my boyfriend speak to his mom and dad but honestly now I just brush it off cus families speak to each other differently.
