How often do you have to see your husband/wife's family?

Do you feel forced to go? Do you like going or dread it?

I work out with my mother-in-law 4 times a week and even worked with her a couple summers ago. My husband works with his dad in their family construction company, so I see him probably once a week at least. I love my in-laws though. They are the only family I have in this town. My family lives 4 hours away.

Holidays. We sometimes visit during the year on long weekends (never standard weekends) or have them come down. Well in theory they come visit us....MIL and sFIL we're supposed to come down in January...did not happen. Of course. 
I dread traveling to them. All 3 sets of parents (mine, his mom/stepdad, his dad/stepmom) live in the same place, well within 1 hr of each other, so we have to go see everyone every time or his family gets all upset that we spent uneven time with them. We're not even allowed to sleep at one house and just visit the other 2! It makes it not fun, not relaxing, etc. we get home and need a vacation from our holiday!

His side gets so upset over stuff. Like when I went to Hometown for my BFF's bachelorette party, engagement party, and wedding, I got in big time trouble for not going to see all my in-laws. Umm...yeah I like them and all but I'd rather hang with my BFF and sis and friends who I rarely get to see (because I'm driving all over to see them on holidays/long weekends) than drive all over the city.

Pro tip: it's a trap! Don't marry someone from your hometown. It sounds like a great idea, but it is not. It's a trap!

They live on the other side of the country so we usually only see them @ most twice a year usually for a week @ a time, they're good people & I love them but they're very different from my family so though I wish they lived close enough for us to see them more often I don't think I'd want them in the same city! We see my family a few times a month & my hubby loves them to pieces :) Still my baby girl is due in 15 days & the in laws r going to come up right after she's born, stay for a short time & then when my husband's 1 month of paternity leave is up his mom is going to come back for a month to help me out & have some more bonding time w/ baby & my stepson, it's not what my hubby & I had talked about, it's what was planned by my FIL, I was irritated @ 1st but there r more positives then negatives to the plan so we're just going w/ it! :)

We usually go about twice a month. They only live an hour away, so its not terrible.my fiances (step) dad doesnt see his grandkids so we want to make sure that he gets to have a relationship with our son.

Usually at least once a week. My in-laws are pretty awesome, and my MIL makes Sunday dinner for all of us every week.

My family lives fairly far away, but his is all local. It's great having such a big family nearby, escpecially since I've been pregnant.
