would you refuse to allow your MIL after delivery?

Obviously it depends on the type of relationship you have with your in laws. But I know with mine, she and a few others have made it IMPOSSIBLE for me to be around them. I can't possibly see how having a child should change how I feel about them and this is why I am refusing to allow them to come. Do you think in laws have a right to meet their grandchild even if they've been horrible to me? Any thoughts, advice?

Me and my MIL have an awful relationship, but I'll be allowing her to see the baby just like my parents will be able too because it's my husbands child too. No matter how much we don't get along, I know my husband would like the same privilege of sharing this experience with his mom as I would mine.

My SO and his step-mother don't really get a long like how a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law should but I still allowed her to come and see my babies. I see it as if they're not any danger to me or my babies, Then they can see them. If you really don't want them here, You could tell your SO to let her know to hold off then visit until you come home from the hospital.

I told my husband I don't want him to tell anyone when I'm in labor because I don't want people waiting for me to push him out so they can meet him. I want time time with just him and my husband, and I also want my other son to meet his brother before anyone else does. I didn't like people waiting in the waiting room and then barging in as soon as he was born with my first son. As far as my MIL, she can really drive me crazy but I will let her in eventually once we're all settled.

I know people who's own mothers have never met their grand baby because they're so toxic. It depends on the situation really but it always boils down to the fact it's YOUR baby and your decision.

Honestly??? It's YOUR KID. You and your baby are going to need rest and positivity during the first few weeks and months of life. Set up boundaries, i.e. A date/time they are allowed to viisit after the baby is born and you are well situated. It could be weeks or months later and it's not up to them. It's up to the parents!

My MIL doesn't live in the state 🙌🏻 now my FIL and his gf, last time they showed up before I even got to my own room which was uncomfortable but we were on better terms, this time around not so much, and I would prefer them not to come but haven't gone that far in telling my husband that. I have told my husband to hold off on telling them so they don't arrive as soon as they did last time.

My in laws have been absolutely terrible to me from the time I met them over 2 years ago now. No way in hell am I letting them near me or the baby when I'm in the most vulnerable state I'll ever be in. I know that I personally couldn't be learning to mother and breastfeed comfortably in their presence. I'm not sure when I'll let them around at all...
