Finally some good news...

Mandy
This is my first pregnancy and it's been rough. Not the ugly symptoms, I'd take those all over again but since 18 weeks, it seems as if we've gotten so much bad or scary news. At our anatomy scan they found our baby has an extra finger and toe. We were told this could be an isolated thing or it could be a part of one of hundreds of serious genetic syndromes since it does not run in our family. We have had ultrasounds every 4 weeks to make sure that everything else looks good and there are no orher abnoralities. We've seen a genetic counselor, had a fetal echo, visited with a pediatric orthopedic surgeon and have met with 3 different high risk doctors after our ultrasounds. 3 weeks ago at our 34 week scan the baby had dropped in weight percentile and the doctors were now worried of a growth resriction and said there was a possibility of inducing at 37 weeks. I then had to come in for weekly non stress tests. It has all been overwhelming to say the least. At our 37 week scan baby measured at 6 lbs 3 oz...still a little small but she grew the normal 1/2 lb a week! Finally the news we were hoping for.
Now we are waiting for our precious girl to arrive on her own. We will deal with the extra finger and toe and planning surgery when the time is right. I am so hopeful for a healthy baby and I just can't wait to snuggle her!
