TTC with PCOS and FH

PCOS and FH" />

My husband and I have been TTC #1 (trying to conceive for baby #1) for nearly a year. I'm in my late 20's. So far, no luck. I have PCOS and a genetic condition called Familial Hypercholesterolemia (I have high cholesterol levels and have to be on statin medications in order to keep my cholesterol levels close to normal). I already have some cholesterol deposits/blockage in my arteries. Well, since we are TTC I've been off of my medication. My lipidologist told me to "get pregnant quickly." My lipidologist said that since I am at a moderate risk for heart disease in the future, he does not recommended me coming off of the statin for long durations. I have family members who have had bypass surgeries done (three and four bypasses) in their early 50's because of this condition. I'd be lying if I said I'm not concerned about what kind of further damage I may be doing to my body by being off my statin medications.

I am currently on Metformin (have been for about a year). I haven't had any tests done to see if I'm even ovulating.

I am torn in deciding if we should give up (for my health reasons) or if we should keep TTC? I really want to be a mother. My husband doesn't care if we have kids or not. He's leaning toward getting me back on my medications (and stopping TTC).
