Does social media have an effect on education and grades?

Question

I'm a full time grad student that has recently deactivated all of my social media accounts because I find that they can be quite distracting. Just curious as to if anybody else sees the link between the two.

Answer

I hardly even have my phone nearby when I study or work on things, I put it on do not disturb so only those important to me can contact me. And as far as using my laptop, I havent noticed a loss of focus or productivity; Facebook is honestly not tempting for me or any social media...
