3% chance of miscarriage??

Question

I had my first ultrasound with my OB at my fertility specialist's office today. She said at our next u/s next week (I'll be almost 7w) that once we hear the heartbeat, chance of miscarriage drops to 3%.

Is this real? I thought that miscarriage risk stays high throughout the first trimester. I am trying to figure out when we should announce- I was originally thinking about 10w. But now that she said this I am thinking 8w...I'm torn. This is our first pregnancy after trying for literally years.

I'm going to announce around 8 or 9 weeks event though I've had a miscarriage before and I've had a healthy pregnancy, I'm announcing at that time because I've already told a bunch of family but I still have my sister in law who I won't see for another 2-3 weeks. I'd tell sooner but I want all mine and my husbands family to know. The reason is, there is life inside of me and no matter how long I have with this tiny baby it's life should be celebrated not hidden and not shadowed with fear. I choose to celebrate my little chocolate chips life❤️😊🎉

Chances of a miscarriage drops drastically once a heartbeat is detected - most happen because a heartbeat never starts

We waited until 10 weeks, thinking we were "safe". We ended up losing our first to different reasons at 17 weeks.
I tell you this, not to scare you, but because there is no "safe time". If you want to announce, then you should! Every baby is precious and deserves to be celebrated. I cherish the happy memories now. It's entirely your decision, don't worry too much about the number of weeks.

I've seen the heartbeat on babies in two of my previous pregnancies and had them end in miscarriage.   I know doctors like to be optimistic but after the first time they happened the doctor told me the 3% risk.  Then I lost he baby anyways.  The next time I went in and was worried they said the 3% risk was cut in half as he odds of that happening to a person twice were almost nothing.  Yet it did.  So I get a strong urge to punch doctors when I tell them how I'm feeling and they start spouting statistics to me.

So up to you when you announce.  I say announce as early as you'd like and are comfortable with :) I'm waiting as late as possible as I've had to untell people several times and itsntoo hard.

It is really up to I've had two missed miscarriages one I was 8 weeks 2 days and found out right before I turned 12 weeks and the I lost twins at around 6 weeks this one we knew I was losing because  of a low heartbeat (92) and one did not have a heartbeat at 5 weeks 6 days and I went  back at 6 weeks 6 days and it was gone. Now I'm pregnant again and i had an ultrasound at 7 weeks 2 days, 9 weeks, and one at 11 weeks 2 days )due to cramping) and everything has been fine. But I'm going to wait until I get my ultrasound for Down syndrome testing at 13 weeks before I say anything. I get my ultrasound for that in a week and 1 day!

I would wait till at least 12 weeks so your out of the first trimester but it's up to you

I have had 3 MC. One at 9 weeks and one at 7 weeks. Both of my babies had heartbeats before miscarrying
