What method works best for burping your baby?

The best method with my son is to sit him up and gently circle him around in one direction three times,  then three circles in the other direction. Usually the burp is up before I've finished the circles.

I picked other because my poor baby has silent reflux. When is time to burp he often screams bloody murder. Sometimes I sit him up, sometimes over the shoulder. I usually don't pat or rub and let it come naturally. If he's crying I use the pacifier to calm him and that helps her the burp out.

We don't really burp her. She works it out herself usually. We burped her at first but it just made her puke. Since stopping burping she has stopped puking.
