IUI or just timed intercourse?

Hi, We have been TTC for a year. Doctor has said we can do IUI next cycle but my husband is not convinced that is a great way to spend money for only 5% greater chance.. when we can just have sex.. All our checks have been perfect except my ovaries look polycystic but I don't have any hormone involvement. Any stories on Letrozole, trigger shot and timed intercourse?

I am doing timed intercourse. We have been trying for 18 months but this is only my second time ovulating in that time. I tried clomid and letrozole but both didn't work.  Gonal f gave me too many follicles and my first round of menopur was successful. I am going to try times intercourse for three cycles before doing IUI. It doesn't seem like a great enough chance for the money to me but my medication is all covered so I can try for free with timed intercourse. Good luck!

I did a back to back IUI after trying for more than 2.5 years with mild pcos. I used letrozole and trigger shot, IUI 12 hours after that and again 24 after that. First try worked! I'm now 25+1.

I have PCOS and took letrozole. I went in for my 13 day ultrasound today and I had two perfect sized follicles. They gave me my HCG trigger and I go in for an IUI tomorrow! This will be my first IUI since my miscarriage in October. The first time I got pregnant it was by my second IUI, but unfortunately ended at 4 weeks. Good luck to you!

Hello! I have completed two rounds of an IUI. We got pregnant on the second time around, however, we then miscarried, it was a failed pregnancy. We decided to give my body a break for a few months before trying again and we are doing the old fashioned way again with no success. The whole IUI process for me was not great and I dread doing it again, but I am sure if the stars align right all will be what is meant to be. Good luck to you!

That is my exact story and I am now 25w after first attempt. I have pcos so the femara helped my egg grow quicker and the trigger shot ensured released and allowed us to time intercourse. So I say it's worth a try before IUI! We did it 24, 36 and 48 hours post trigger just to cover all bases 😉 good luck!
