Exactly what the title says. I understand it doesn't make it right that you went through their phone but isn't it better to found out your getting cheated on then getting played? Just curious on other ladies opinion on this.

It's wrong but I've done it anyways. If you get to that point, it's a toxic relationship that needs to end. I wish I would've walked away.

I have my thumbprint on his phone. 
I know damn well all he does is follow meme and political pages on instagram, I know damn well all he does is message the same old group chat with the same old guy friends, and I sure as hell know that if he wanted to leave me, he would tell me. If he wanted another girl, he would tell me. He's upfront with this stuff.

But my ass still gets all sus. 
Sometimes I unlock his phone and then I'll just go to youtube or scroll through instagram. I just can't look at his messages.

If you know you're being played, or you feel like you are, then the relationship isn't right for you. You don't need to see the evidence to know that the relationship isn't in the right place. If it gets to that point, leave.

If you don't have anything to hide? You don't have anything to hide. While space and boundaries are necessary in a relationship I'm not sure why people need privacy if the have nothing to hide. People in relationships usually demand privacy...when they are hiding something. If you choose to be in a relationship it's not just YOUR life. You are sharing it with someone. And if your SO is acting shady I say do as you please short of stalking or illegal stuff.

I'm usually an upfront person so I'd probably confront them about it before I went snooping. By that point I think it's okay. My thing is, I'd rather someone break up with me instead of cheat on me. That's a warning I give straight up. I can't stand that "I didn't want to hurt you" bullshit.

Personally I think keeping your s/o from your phone is being untrustworthy if it's a serious relationship. I've never felt the need to go through my husband's phone, but if I asked I know he'd hand it over, and so would I.

I don't see anything wrong with it. If your SO know they're not being untrustworthy they will have no problem with it. I don't think it's an invasion of privacy either.
