What is the big deal of having your baby in nursery from birth??

Women have done this for years. SIDS can happen anywhere! I've heard of it happening in shopping malls! Surely if im going into her constantly through the night for monitoring, comfort and feeding, she should be fine? 😐 we have monitors that track her movement, with sound and Video, White noise, doors will be open and she's right in the room beside us. Its not like im putting her in there and leaving her all night🙄

According to American Academy of Pediatrics sleeping in the same room as your infant reduces the likelihood of SIDS by 50%. I personally had both my daughters in the same room as us until 7 and 8 months.

Since they really don't know exactly what causes SIDS, lowering the risk is certainly important to me as a mother. This has nothing to do with paranoia. Cutting the risk in half seems like a figure I personally can not ignore.

I don't think it's a huge deal, but when I'm going to have to feed my son multiple times a night, I'd rather have him in a bassinet close to my bed so I don't have to get up! Just my personal preference.  When he starts sleeping for longer stretches, he'll go into his own room.

Yo these recommendations change all the time. What was suggested 5 years ago is forbidden now. Do what makes you feel comfortable. From what I read, SIDS is completely unpreventable. Don't let the worry of SIDS rob you of your joy & do what makes you feel confident.

I had both of my little ones in a Moses basket beside my bed until they was 6 months old. I had a c-section with both of them so couldn't of put them in their own rooms anyway because I could hardly move. It's each to their own and what ever you want to do you should do it. xx

There is nothing wrong with it at all. They have no clue what causes sids and the baby can die in your room too, while you're asleep you wouldn't know. It's not like the baby is going to give a warning before it happens. Do what you want. I know having a baby in the room lowers the intimacy between partners.  We moved our daughter at 5 months and I have two older kids that did stay in my room a year each  and my sex life was nonexistent.

I see doctors at one of the leading children's hospital in the world. I discussed this with many of the doctors there because my husband and I had always planned on our baby sleeping in his own room from birth. After he was diagnosed with a lung condition and the statement made by the APA (that baby should sleep in the parents room but not the parents bed) I started to have second thoughts. ALL of my doctors encouraged me to let the baby sleep in his own room. My husband and I have had really in depth conversations with doctors about it and I feel completely comfortable with him in his nursery.

Nobody should criticize you for it, it's completely fine even without all that stuff. People are just far more paranoid nowadays, whatever works for them though, right?

I think (at least for myself) it's about ease in the first few months. Personally experienced better sleep with baby right close in a bassinet and much less getting out of bed to comfort. Sounds counter productive but there's a lot less fussing around when the baby is right there and everything you need is within a few feet of the bed.

I think the issue is that they think if baby is in another room the parents won't get up through the night, and monitors aren't perfect- power failure, interference, that kind of thing. You'll get judged regardless of how you handle sleeping arrangements though, so do what's best for you. 
I know for me I'd sleep a little more soundly with the baby closer at hand- we have cats and my husband is allergic, so we keep our bedroom door closed anyway to keep them off his pillows/sheets.  So if baby was in another room he'd be behind at least 1 closed door (though realistically 2 since we don't want the cats sleeping with him, at least until he can push them off and that kind of thing). 
Some studies show that mothers sleep more restfully (even if they're up frequently) if the baby is closer too- because of the change in brain chemistry after birth, but if you don't think that'll apply to you, do your own thing.

Keeping the baby in the same room as you just gives people a little peace of mind my daughter is in our room only because the room shes going into when she starts to sleep through the night is shared with her brother their room is right next to ours literally we have to walk through my sons room to get to the rest of the house but she does wake him up when shes crying and cant be consoled so shes with us
