benadryl during first trimester?

I'm dealing with a lot of congestion and slight body aches. Benadryl is on my doctors safe list but still worried about taking it during first trimester. I'm currently 8w4d. I'm feeling pretty bad right now. Anybody take Benadryl during first trimester?

Benadryl and Claritin are safe to take. I would try Claritin first every morning and if that's not enough Benadryl as needed

I had a lot of the same symptoms, it's actually a common symptom of pregnancy and may have nothing to do with a cold, and it may go away or it may not. I chose not to take anything because it wasn't worth the risk just to feel better for a little while. Maybe try the natural methods (neti pot, unmedicated nasal spray etc) before trying the benadryl. I also found the unmedicated breathe right strips helped at night.

My doc to told me to take it but for morning sickness...I thought it was weird but it did help. Anyway, after taking it, the baby is still doing fine at 22weeks
