Bad Haircut

My boyfriend got literally the worst haircut ever today and I am so shook about it. I loved his long hair and I told him that but he was super excited to get a haircut so of course I was excited for him. Needless to say it did not go well. Now he's super upset about it because it's gonna take forever to grow back to a less awkward stage and I want to make him feel better but I don't want to lie to him. I do not know what to do now
