is there any way for me to know labor is near ? I'm almost 34 weeks. I've been experiencing Braxton hicks but from what I've read that's normal and doesn't mean labor is anywhere close. I know the obvious signs like my water breaking or losing mucous plug. anything that happens other than that and contractions...

Unless you have 6 in an hour, you are fine. My ob said the 4 things to call her about was water breaking, blood, regular contractions or baby not moving. Sounds like your body is beginning the process :-)

I get really sick and feel like throwing up... Sometimes I do. Also the contractions have to be regular.
