how to put a tampon in without discomfort?

I just tried a tampon earlier today and it was very uncomfortable, I'm pretty sure I put it in correctly, the only thing i might not have done right is ouch the inner tube in all the way because I slightly panicked and tried to do it quickly, but it was all the way in, you could only see the string. But it sorta felt like it was going to fall out. I took it out immediately and that was not a smart idea as it was even more uncomfortable at that point. I pretty much need to wear one for dance tomorrow but I'm scared to try again. Any tips to make it not uncomfortable or feel like it's going to fall out?

Weird trick, but my aunt told it to me when I first started using tampons. When you are putting it in, twist it while you are pushing it in. Idk why it works but it does and I've never had that awful discomfort of a tampon since.

What I've learned over the years;

1) ALWAYS use tampons that are in the PLASTIC insert tube, NOT cardboard. They hurt, and plastic slides easier.
And 2) use petite tampins (smallest tampons you can find) when starting out. That way you don't feel like a penguin waddling around and there shouldn't be much (if any) discomfort. lol

I'll put one in right after I get out of the shower. At that point, my muscles are relaxed and it helps ease it in. It's not going to be super comfortable at first, especially if you're not used to using them, but after a while you'll get the hang of it. Make sure the plastic dispenser is inserted completely before you start pushing it in, that'll help make sure it's completely inside.

sometimes your flow might not be heavy enough to put a tampon in. if this may be you, put it in mid-day. also, make sure the plastic part goes almost all the way in and then lush the tampon in, my friend just has this problem. and remember, tampons just may not be for you. but you have to let yourself get adjusted to them as well.

Cheap brands are extremely uncomfortable and painful. Maybe that was the problem?
