Seperate apartments

Advice please. My boyfriend and I are planning on living separately after our lease is up in April, we were best friends before we became a thing, so we were living together when we got together. We've never lived apart from each other for the past 2 1/2 years. Its a mutual agreement that maybe this will help our relationship/friendship, with us having our own space. He wants to try it out for 6 months and see what happens. Any advice on not being super needy and clingy because he isnt gonna always be right there? Would this be something you would do? Any and all advice is welcome. 😊 thanks!
