Am I really "not normal"?!

Question

Here's the story: I have a 2 year old who goes to nursery while I am at work and pregnant again.
I start my day at 6 am leave the house at 7- start work at 9 til 5.30 pm
And get back to the house after 7 pm
5 days a week!
I am planning on returning to work after baby is born and initially do part time but within 1 year return to full time.
I am being looked at Mrs Mission Impossible and was told recently that this is not normal! You don't work unless you have to!

Now if I'd stay home and not pay for childcare I'd be financially better off- but I have a career and I am only 30. I can't sit at home for the rest of my life.

Mamas- please tell me you are doing such - is absolutely normal to work and have children!!!

There are plenty of mothers who work and raise their kids. This isn't out the norm

My mom was SINGLE and worked two jobs meaning I probably only saw her in the morning and before bed at night and weekends. She explained later that she did this until I was 7. Guess what, I don't freaking remember lol all I know is my mom is awesome and has a work ethic out of this world. I appreciate her sacrifices and am unaware of her not physically being there because she was SO present when she was. Do what you have to do for those babies and don't let anyone tell you it's weird. Im proud of you and they will be too.

I'm a nanny and their mother is a hard working lawyer, she gets home in time to make and have dinner with the kids. She spends her weekend off with them. It's not impossible at all, just have to find your own balance :)

Daycare to salary it may seem to make sense to stay home, but think of everything else that gets set back if you were to quit and "start over" later... salary, raises, 401k is a huge one.

I don't see a problem in working and raising kids. By all means, if it were possible, and the kids were all grown up, I would probably go back to school in a heartbeat for a chance to have a career in either nursing, or psychology. You do you! Don't worry about what other people think. I love being a stay at home Mom, don't get me wrong, but it's not for everyone! Besides, many people don't have a choice. Single Moms do this all the time! They have to work in order to provide for their little ones with little to no help from anyone, including the father of their children.

There's nothing wrong with what you're doing. I'm in my 30's too and going back to work when my mat leave is up in August. It's just not feasible for me to give up working. I have also worked hard in education and have a "name" for myself where ppl know I do good things and it took 12 years to get there so to give it up would be really hard. I honestly wish we were rich and then maybe I would stay home or even start a home business. We are unsure if we want a second but if we do then we for sure will need us both working. Days are long, but weekends and holidays and evening snuggles are just as important and every day things. Quality time is better than quantity time. It takes a village ❤💕
