Ok can we drink a glass of red wine a day? Or is this a myth?

I drink a little shot glass worth of wine a few times a week. It really does hit the craving. I used to have a glass or two of wine a night with my husband, before pregnancy, so a small gesture feels like something. My doctor also says a couple of glasses per week is fine and she's been doing this for 40 years now. Binging is what is very harmful.

They say that it's far too dangerous to test what the safe levels of alcohol use in pregnancy are so they don't recommend any. I wouldn't risk it because I've seen the damage alcohol fetal syndrome can do to kids. I know the risk may be low with small amounts but the risk is still there and if it's a risk that can be avoided then why not?? There will be plenty of time once the baby is born to have a drink.

I'm drinking Fre, alcohol free wine, for now. It's like $5 a bottle at BevMo (if that's near you).  My bf is a stickler so for now, no regular wine for me.

I've had one or two glasses of red over the last 4 months, but I think the one a day thing is a bit much.

I stopped in the end; I'd get to the end of the first glass and morn the fact I couldn't have another :/  I do have the occasional sip of my partners wine/beer, but at least it's HIS and it's not an entire glass; just enough to have a little sigh of contentment.

But damn, there are days where I REALLY need a drink. But it's just mocktails for me...

I have a half a glass of red every other night. My doctor says no more than 3 glasses per week and no more than 1 glass a night.

From what my midwife told me, they tell Americans not to consume any alcohol mainly because of our average habits. Americans tend to drink much faster, where as other countries tend to drink one glass over a course of a few hours. I'm not saying you fall into that category, but on average that's what I've heard. I've also heard even the smallest amount of alcohol can cause fetal alcohol syndrom. I've personally never drank a glass while pregnant but I've had a sip tasting my husbands!
