Schedule C-Section?

Question

I'm a FTM still early in at just over 5w, and the labor and delivery just had me terrified and incredibly anxious. I read that depending on facility, c-sections could be scheduled. But given the risks that come along with any surgery and limitations it would impose on future pregnancies, I don't know if that's a good idea. Thoughts?

There's no painless way to get a baby out, it's either painful vaginal birth or c-section with a painful recovery. Take a childbirth class, read Ina Garten, read about epidurals, read about water birth, hypnobirth, Bradley system, etc. Then have a talk with your doc or midwife about what's a good choice for you to plan for, and just have an understanding that labor doesn't always go as planned.

I told my husband that I need to be halfway to my grave before they do a c-section. It's a surgery, therefore recovery time is longer and you're in pain meds, at risk for infection, etc.. Whereas with vag deliveries the women are up and walking around the same day as the birth. My friend that does newborn/post/and antepartum said she's amazed that women can just go about their lives like they didn't just pop a baby out of their hooha lol really it's a preference thing I guess. Do your research, every person is different, but I personally wouldn't.

Get on YouTube and watch the business of being born- you ALWAYS have a choice, and you should be informed to make the correct ones at the correct times based on facts and not medical jargon and scare tactics. It's my biggest pet peeve as a nurse- you always have the right to refuse until you know all the facts! Good luck!
