I'm writing a movie script for a creative writing school project and I was showing my friend and she said it's offensive to families and people who have had cancer. I didn't intent to offend anyone. If this offends you, I do apologize. I'm just trying to figure out if I should change my idea or not.

So it's sort of a scary movie and it takes place in a very conservative and small community. Everyone in the community is Christian and believe heavily in God and avoid Satan and stuff like that. Well when a member of the community falls ill with brain cancer, the community shuns her as they think cancer is Satan and they don't want anything to do with Satan.

Idk it's sort of weird I guess but I didn't mean to hurt anyone. My own grandfather passed of cancer and this story doesn't bother me but I also came up with it. But my friend said it's offensive to people with cancer because it's saying they are the devil but that's not really what i mean. Opinions?
