Honestly depends on the relationship you have with him/her. I can sit here and give my ex advice about his new relationship and not have any feelings towards him romantically or sexually. We lost a mutual friend when we first started dating and it was a lot harder on him. And now his best friend passed away who I was very close with. And only out of respect to my fiancé who is uncomfortable with the idea of us talking- we haven't talked. But honestly I would be there for him and help him through shit as he has done for me. I believe if you two really loved each other you would be able to be there for each other with out feelings or social stigmas. But like I said. All about your relationship with him. If you two aren't friendly then I don't see the need to. But if your friendly I say why not.
