Partial placental abruption first trimester

I was wondering if anyone has had a placental abruptio during the first trimester? This is my first pregnancy, I turned 11 weeks yesterday and during the evening I noticed some heavy bleeding, first time that had happened. I went to the Doctor today and she said I had a placental disruption, that the baby is OK for now but I need to be put to bed rest for a week and take progesterone capsules. Is this normal? Can anyone tell me her experience? I am worried obviously. Thank you!
