He wants to get me a promise ring...
So my boyfriend and I are going to be going long distance soon and he wants to get me a promise ring. I happen to really hate promise rings. Personally, I think they're something you do in high school but once you're in your 20s a ring should be an engagement ring (and we have not been together long enough nor are either of us ready for that).
We broke up when we found out I was moving but after a little while got back together because we weren't very good at not being together. So things are still a little bit rocky for us. And he's doing this to show me that he really is committed and wants to make this work. I love the reason why he's doing this but I really don't want to wear a promise ring. And I'd feel really bad if I just didn't wear it when he wasn't around (which isn't often at all). That's basically lying. So how do I tell him I don't want it? Without hurting his feelings or making waves in our relationship.
