What do you do with your baby during the day?

Question

What's a typical day look like for you and your baby? My daughter is 12 weeks old and I'm having a hard time keeping her stimulated during the day. It's too cold where I live to bring her outside and she's getting bored with her play mat and most of her toys already. She loves the tv but I don't think it's good for her to be watching it all the time. Any ideas?

P.S.- here's my baby isn't she cute 😆

Though I want more ideas, we do lots of things throughout the day... among the naps, eating, and changing we do tummy time, bumbo time where we chill and have conversations, lots of singing and dancing ( my music, not so much hers...lol...), lots of face to face conversations, and I introduce her to her toys. She loves her johnny jump up, and I put it low enough that she can reach and jump. She prefers to eat the side of it most of the time...lol. I take her out and abou, and she loves the grocery store... I let her touch the produce before bagging it, and she loves the different textures. She loves trying to stand, and I can't sit and let her hold my hand and stand all day so we use her play gym/exersaucer thing with books under her feet so she can reach! She's super strong, so it's so fun to watch! Sometimes I put Sophia the first on and let her listen to a few episodes where she can't see it, and watch it for a few minutes...(usually while I'm getting ready for work(I only work 2 nights during the week for 4 hours each)...mommy's gotta look presentable...lol. I try not to use it often, and we do more than enough interactive activity time so I'm not worried...)we also visited the children's museum for the first time the other day!!! And when the weather is reasonable we always try for an outside walk with her snowsuit!! Sorry...had to add the pictures cause I'm a little obsessed...lol

I take my son to the mall and we walk around there! It's warm and gets us out of the house

First of all, your baby is adorable! We typically get up for the day at around 6am. He feeds and then I put on Sedame Street for him while I get ready. After I'm done we have play time where I talk and sing to him until he gives me the cue that he's tired and/or it's time to leave for work. Luckily I get to bring my baby with me to work. When we first get there he takes a nap for about 2 hours. When he wakes up I feed him then it's playtime again (play mat, talking, singing, etc.) until he's ready for another nap. We repeat this cycle until his last night feed. I focus on the E.A.S.Y method with my son and it works really well for us.

No tv here. eat tummy time, play music on Alexa and sing to him, rock n play, bobby repeat. There is also a free infant class where I live in ny 3 days a week and love taking him to that.

I feel the same way! We go for walks really bundled up and not for long! Play on his play mat, sometimes I bake or make supper while he's in his bumbo chair or while babywearing and I tell him everything I'm doing. Sometimes I just sit and chat with him. We go to Walmart a lot and the library sometimes. I try to make plans a few times a week with some friends for a coffee date so I don't go crazy! I try not to over stimulate him too because he's always learning, using his hands and observing things. I watch TV while he naps sometimes because he won't nap in his crib so we cuddle.  I can't wait for the nice weather to return!

I know what you mean with it being too cold! Where will live we let babies nap on the balcony (supervised of course!)  when it dips down too low but when it's -5c we go walking for almost 2 hours. He wakes up at about 7 and we talk and play a little bit and then he will go back to sleep at 8:30-9:00. At 10:00 he wants to eat and then he doesn't really nap unless he's in his stroller. I sing to him and let him touch different objects. I read to him and also give him alone time with his play mat or in his crib. We practice his tummy time because he can roll over now. He also loves looking at himself in the mirror and bath time.

Following! So cold in NY too. This time of year stinks because many people are getting sick, don't want to take her out. Has anyone tried an exersaucer yet?

Mostly variations on reading books, listening to music, and tummy time. I try to mix it up so that tummy time is on different surfaces, sometimes with the boppy, sometimes without, sometimes naked (which supposedly makes it easier to move?).

My son likes to practice standing up and down in my lap with support. He also likes kicking his legs with my hands or anything else giving some resistance (a favorite is tilting the toilet paper holder).

He's recently started responding to peekaboo and sometimes grasping rattles. I set up his mobile with a strap so he can hit it and he loves that for a while. We've also started to listen to songs and books read aloud in other languages (Yoruba because of my husband's heritage).

I think the issue with tv isn't that babies don't like it, but that it's important for their brain development to be focusing on 3D objects at varying distances. In my mind it's like candy for little kids. They'd totally eat it all the time if they could, and a little every once in a while won't hurt, but it should be used sparingly and most other things are healthier.

It's freezing here, too, but I definitely take my son out whenever we luck into a slightly warmer day. I also take him to social events where he can people watch. I took him to a party with my coworkers yesterday afternoon and he was a big hit.
