early arrival

Michelle
First off I've been constipated this entire pregnancy and all of a sudden at 39 weeks I have no problem going number two. On 2/4 I woke up to contractions at 3 am and I decided to time them (my c-section date wasn't until 2/6). They were 5-7 minutes apart lasting anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute. It wasn't going away so I decided to get up and go downstairs. By 4:45 my contractions were coming every 4-6 minutes. At this point I'm telling myself it's false labor because my son and husband had plans to go to Supercross before baby number 3 arrived.
Every time I would have a contraction I would feel a gush of fluid come out of me and when I'd check it was slimy, so I figured it was my mucus plug.  Come to find out it was actually my water that broke.
Finally I called the doctor and explained what was going on and he sent me to L&D, where they confirmed everything. Contraction were 3 minutes apart and I was 1cm dilated completely thinned out. C-section was set for 8 am.
This was my third c-section so I should know what to expect and not be as anxious... but I was extremely anxious. My heart rate remained high from the time we arrive at the hospital. I have never felt so scared and emotional they I did when I walked in the OR. I cannot say enough great things about the L&D staff who were right there to support me until my husband was allowed in.
My baby girl, Bailey Quinn, was born on 2/4 at 8:29 am weighing 6lbs 9.5 oz 18 in long. They briefly cleaned her off and then brought her to me for skin to skin for the remainder of my c-section. I was blown away by how skin to skin contact help control the shakes I had from the spinal.
Recovery has been great, but I'm not the type of person to lay around and am already up walking around, 1 day later. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was how light headed and nauseous I felt.
