I took a year off before going to college. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do so I didn't wanna pursue something I wasn't sure about. I worked for that entire year and was ready to go when the time came. I did 2 years and now I'm in university. I feel like it really helped me.

I went to community college right after high school and then transferred to a four year college. At first, I was really bummed to go to community college because everyone calls it "the 13th grade" because you think you see so many people from high school. In reality, it was a very positive experience! I only had classes with maybe 3 or 4 people from my high school, saved a ton of money, and made new friends.

Don't knock community college, especially if you're not sure what you want to do! Even getting one or two years of basic classes done can be beneficial to finish off later. Many careers can even be started by just receiving a two year degree!

To everyone out there wanting to go to college be careful that college is not just about learning it is also about the connections made there. College is more mental than physical, so be ware if u are not mentally ready for college then u will have the most difficult time there. Make sure u are mentally ready for independence and hard work.

If you're planning to go to college and are still in high school, just know that more often than not taking a gap year usually isn't a good idea. Most people who take one don't end up going back to school because they start working and if they do go back it's harder because they're not in the mindset of being a student anymore. I'm not saying it's always a bad idea, gap years work well for some people, but it usually isn't a good idea. If you don't have to take a year off, don't.
