How do you get rid of plugged ducts?

Hi ladies, just wondering what you do to clear a plugged milk duct? I have one now and nearly every time I have gotten one, it has led to mastitis. I even got an abscess that I had to have surgery on, so obviously I would very much like to avoid the possibility of that happening again. I started to feel the little hard spot on my breast a couple of days ago and now it's starting to turn red and more sensitive to the touch. I have tried having my baby feed first on that side and in different positions, pumping, using warm compress, expressing in the shower with hot water running over it, but it's still there. I'm not super worried about it now, but like I said, I just really don't want it to get worse. I have also heard that you can point baby's chin towards the plugged duct, but does that mean putting the chin right on it, or like across the nipple from it, if that makes sense? Open to any suggestions. Thank you!
