Thoughts on the Menstrual Cup?

Question

I Recently heard about a little contraption called a "Menstrual Cup." It's a flexible cup or barrier worn inside the vagina during menstruation to collect menstrual fluid. There have been a lot of commotion about tampons lately and I'm curious who has tried these cups and their opinions. The reason for my curious it is because I recently got off birth control (due to some issues that it could be contributing to) and I'm 30, married and will be prepping for babies soon :) I've read (and my doc mentioned) side effects of getting off birth control are bad cramping and heavy periods. Wondering if I can put aside the extra super tampons for this cup-thingy.

I have a Diva Cup. Easily the best purchase I have ever made. Like Jessica said, it takes a bit to get used to putting it in, but after that its a breeze. I empty mine in the morning and before I got to bed and have never had any leakage yet. I highly recommend a menstrual cup!

I love my menstrual cup! I can go all day without worrying about leaking or changing/cleaning it. My cramps aren't as bad when I use it also. It takes a little while to get used to putting it in correctly but once you've got it, it's the greatest thing I've ever used!

I love my menstrual cup too! I use a Diva cup. You should check out their website! I've had heavy periods since I had my IUD placed about 6 years ago. Once I got used to putting it in/adjusting it, I can go all day without removing it or leaking...even on the heaviest days. No more buying tampons or leaking through my panties.

Mine is called a Victoria love menstrual mate and u Dont take it out the whole time since it has a stem u just open and it pours out on it own. Less germs and no sink visits. Just clean ur hands as normal.

I use a Diva Cup and wouldn't go back to anything else ever again. Wish I had tried it sooner. I had a couple very progressive friends in high school who swore by them but I didn't try one till I was 25. Still, love it!

I started testing it with softcup last month. Have had trouble getting it positioned right, but the one or two times I did, it was a decent experience.  I did have to rush to the bathroom at one point because I had some sharp pain, but id put it in incorrectly.  If I get the hang of it, Ill probably invest in a reusable one (soft cup is not). Much better fr enviorment.

I love using menstural cups. I first used the SoftCup til I got the hang of it then invested in the Mooncup. I would never go back to tampons. My period cramps have eased dramatically too and sometimes I even forget I'm on my period!
