It seems my doctor doesn't do internal exams leading up to the due date. I'm 38 weeks and he still hasn't done one. I asked him about it last week and he said he doesn't like to "get in there and disturb anything" and that "it really doesn't matter how dilated or effaced you are bc it could still mean hours/days/or even weeks until your little guy gets here". Logically I understand this, but I still would like to know what if anything is going on down there. Am I just being silly? Has anyone else had their Dr. tell them something similar? I'm seeing him again this afternoon and I'm thinking about telling him I'd really prefer he takes a look. Then of course there's my mom who says things like "Why shake the tree?" Lol. But just this morning she changed her tune and said she thought at 38 weeks he really should do a quick exam to see how I'm progressing.
