Acutane for acne. Pros/cons

I have suffered with severe acne since I was 12. I'm now almost 20. They are deep knots of pimples. I have scarring and redness too. Today I saw my dermatologist and signed paperwork to begin acutane next month. I'm aware of all the risks but I'd like to hear experiences and thoughts.
