is it true that getting lots of ultrasounds can cause stress for the baby?

I've heard this and wondering if this is true. This pregnancy I've only had one ultrasound (transvaginal) and one time hearing the heartbeat through the doppler. I'm not supposed to get another ultrasound until I'm 20 weeks and I'm 13 weeks now and wondering if I decide to get another done now if it's safe?

I had ultrasounds every week from 28 weeks until birth of my second child at 38 weeks. I would also have a non stress test afterwards and the ultrasounds never seemed to affect him. And my OB was never worried about the amounts of ultrasounds I had(10+ when all said and done.) But, if you're concerned, always mention your concerns to your OB or midwife.

I've had one at 5, 6, 8 & 10 weeks and go again next week at 14. I don't think my Dr would do them if they were bad....at least I'd hope not!!

It's totally safe to get another one, like if you're thinking of doing a sneak peek gender one or something. It's just not medically necessary to do an ultrasound like once a week or month or anything unless there's a problem. Because the risks on doing too many ultrasounds or doppler etc aren't as solid as they once thought. There's alot of uncertainty about the effects on the fetus. But getting three or four during your pregnancy is normal. Alot of people get them even more frequently and they dont have an issue. No reason to worry.
