Birth Control Pros/Cons?

Question

I've had an irregular cycle since the get-go. I mainly use this app for the community because my period is so unpredictable but I'm wondering if birth control could help regulate it. I've been hesitant because of all the horror stories of changes in mood and loss of sex drive but I think it could be worth it for me. Not to mention I'd be getting the benefit of its main function as a contraceptive. What do you guys think? Is it worth it or should I stay natural?

After being on it for about 7 years I stopped randomly because I couldn't lose weight. I can't explain the actual differences I feel after stopping birth control.. however I feel SO much better physically.

I've been on nuvaring for 3 years now and I like it a lot. I could never remember to take a pill and I refuse to get an implant bc I'm just afraid of the changes in my body that I couldn't regulate. The pros for me include the fact that even tho nuvaring is mad easy to use I regularly forget to put it back after sex.. you're supposedly covered for 3 hours with it out but I think for me the coverage is extended bc I should be super pregnant by now lol. It's also good for your flora and helping to balance your ph. Cons are that I've had double periods before... not often, maybe 2 times a year at most but it happens. It usually happens when I end my cycle put a new one in... have sex.. forget to put it back in and then I'll have a period.. you can kind of schedule your period with nuvaring so having double periods may be my fault.

I was on birth control for 5 years, the pill for 3, and tried an IUD for a year, then the nuvaring. Now I'm not on anything and have never felt better.  Those 5 years it worsened my depression, my sex drive was all over the place, I gained 25 pounds on the IUD, the nuvaring killed my sex drive. For me, my hormones can't handle birth control. But it is different for everyone, you could try out the pill if you're someone who can remember to take it properly, I couldn't ever remember to take it!
