Empty Uterus

I had a miscarraige today. Im devastated beyond words. When it went for the scan my uterus was empty. Think i may have passed everything when i was bleeding. Has this happened to anybody before? I have no information to go on due to the uterus being empty. I dont know if the baby ever even began to develop properly. does anybody have a similar experience??
