Major pain from progesterone oil injection?

This is my second night with the progesterone oil injection. Wow. It doesn't hurt until about 20 min later, and it hurts for about 3 hours. BAD. Anyone else?
My pain is at the site of the injection, which I read is the #1 most common side effect. I'd love some tips. Will ice help or hurt, etc?

I ice the injection site for like 15-20 minutes (using an ice pack, not ice cubes in a bag bc they melt too fast) and when it's good and numb, my husband does the shot.  He then massages the injection site to get any knots out then I sit on a heating pad for about 15 mins.  Yes it is a process but I'd rather do all of this than to feel the needle or be sore afterwards.  My bum feels normal and I've been doing the shots for like 4 weeks now every night.  Hope this helps!

I ice mine for at least 10 minutes before and it works like a charm! As long as it's the correct spot you shouldn't be able to feel the shot at all!

I do the ice and heat pad trick as well, the heat really helps the oil from causing knots. Been on them for 6 weeks, have another 3-4 weeks left. Starting to get some numbness too so doesn't hurt as much now.

Heat pack for 10 minutes before the injection helps a lot!

I used the heat packs that stick to you and warmed the spot for about 30min-1hour before the injection. After drawing up the oil I would warm the syringe for about 5-10 minutes. After the shot was given I would massage the area to help the oil disperse and then place the heat pack back on. Hope this helps!

A hot pack worked for me! Just leave it on the injection site for about 5 minutes before injecting. Progesterone is oily, so it makes sense that heat would help ease the pain.

Yes I've been on 1 ml of progesterone oil but injection for 11 days. And yes it's painful because the oil sit in the muscle I can feel like 7 knots in my butt and it's very hard to walk. It feels like I have two soft balls in my hips when I walk I am 105 lbs and thin you can see the knots!
