need some advice

So me and my boyfriend (now ex) had been ttc for nearly 3 months.. I took prenatal vitamins, I would take ovulating test all the time to see when i would have the best shot but they always came out negative. But this past Sunday, I had a feeling that I should take one while my boyfriend was out of town.. it was positive. We ended up having sex on Monday. Which was perfect timing. He just ended our relationship yesterday and he wants to talk it out and see what can happen with us tomorrow.. I guess my question is, how long should I wait to take a pregnancy test?
