Is it too early to tell your boss you're preggers?

Hey all! I'm 4wks5d today and this is also my first pregnancy. My next dr visit is in two weeks. I also work as a cook in a restaurant and my question is, is it Okay to tell my boss already about my situation? I'm also scared of the risk of MC but I always try to stay positive!

I would only tell if you think it's going to affect your job. Like if you're throwing up a lot or something. Otherwise they don't really need to know..

I had an ectopic back in June which was a surprise to me and my husband. We spent a night in the hospital and kept it relatively quiet. I'm a fire fighter so had to stay out of work for a month that time. Went to dr Monday and confirmed I'm pregnant again and decided to tell work. If things work this time I don't need the stress of working 24 hr shifts and if they end the same way at least my boss and coworkers will have an idea as to what happened.

Personally im not... ive had miscarrages and immediate family knew I just dont think I could handle everybody at work knowing too... but im a private person so thats just how I feel... ill tell my boss when I start to show/ if I get any work restrictions from the doctor

I told my boss at 4weeks. I have a great buss who is super supportive. She knows that I've lost babies in the womb before and is hyperaware of when something is off with me. I work with adults with developmental disabilities and have had many times been attacked etc at work. I also work with a ton of chemicals so she needed to know. I never told her I wasn't able to do anything and she has made many allowances for me already with work. I am positive I made the right decision

I'm only 4w2d and I told my boss.  We have a good relationship and I knew she would be both supportive and discrete.  Asked her to keep it quiet until I tell the rest of my colleagues later in the term,  but wanted her to know because we have projects that may need extra attention as I'm out more.  Also feels better knowing that she gets any moodiness, looks of discomfort, closed office door, etc.  thankfully she responded brilliantly and I feel like I made the right choice.  That said, there's no way I would have been so upfront with some past bosses!  So situational...

I told my boss at 4 + 3. I felt bad for telling her so soon but then ended up having to be out on bed rest for 2 days a couple of days later so I was glad I had informed her of the pregnancy up front. To me, withholding the info just makes it more stressful, but I guess it depends on a lot of factors and everyone's work situation is different.

Thanks ladies! I'm still not sure yet cause we have a pretty good relationship anyway and my bosses are very flexible with schedules. I just thought I'd give them a heads up but I think I'll wait two more weeks until my next appt with my OB.

There's no "rule" on this one. I told mine because we were planning our projects for the year and I wanted to be up front. But we have a good relationship and I also have someone who reports to me that's due in June and based on how my boss helped me figure things out for her I knew she would be fine.

I told mine, I work with aggressive children and I've been pretty sick. It just made sense to me. AND if the worst happened and I had a MC, I would need a day or two off anyway so I have no issue being open about everything.
